Speed of tape

How fast the tape is moving, read two ways: a row for every bar, and a histogram by price inside a box you draw.

Setting names are shown in English because that is how they appear in the Quantower settings window.

Two readings, two questions

"Fast" only means something against a reference, and the useful reference changes with the question.

WhereThe question it answersOn by default
The grid rowHow did this bar compare with the bars around it?Yes
The speed profileWhich prices inside this range were passed through quickly? No

The grid row — bar by bar

A row in the per-bar statistics grid, one bar per chart bar, on by default. It is a small histogram rather than a number. Bar height is the measurement you pick — average trade size by default, or trades, volume or delta per second — and the colour is the direction of that bar's delta. In the default bipolar style, bars with positive delta stand above a centre line and bars with negative delta hang below it.

The speed profile — price by price

Inside a range profile box, Range profile: tape histogram adds a second histogram along the box's right edge. Each row is how quickly that price was passed through: what traded there, divided by the time price spent there. It is off by default, and the T/s chip under a selected box switches it for that box alone.

Rows that are both thin on volume and quick get a bright outline (Range profile: fast LVN highlight) — the places price went through rather than traded at.
