Power Trades settings
Power Trades is Quantower's own tool for large volume traded in a short time. This page lists what each of its settings does and where it starts, read from an installed build.
Setting names are shown as they appear in the English Quantower settings window. Defaults and ranges were read from an installed Quantower v1.146.7 on 15 September 2026 — a later build can change them.
This page is about a Quantower feature, not about OrderVane. What OrderVane draws is on Big trade markers.
What Power Trades looks for
Power Trades marks a zone: a stretch of price where at least Total volume traded within Time interval, sec. The trade size and zone height settings decide which trades and zones count at all. The delta and basis ratio filters then decide which of the zones found are shown.
Quantower's own help uses 2,000 contracts in 3 seconds on E-mini S&P 500 futures as its example. The defaults are much smaller than that, so on a busy instrument the first thing to change is usually Total volume.
Detection
| Setting | Default | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| Total volume | 100 | The volume a zone needs, traded within the time interval. |
| Time interval, sec | 5 | The window that volume has to fit in. Minimum 0.1, in steps of 0.1. |
| Basis volume interval, sec | 300 | A longer window used as the base for Filter by Basis ratio, %. Minimum 0.1. |
Filters
| Setting | Default | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| Min trade volume | 0 | Only trades of at least this size count toward a zone. |
| Max trade volume | 100000 | Only trades up to this size count toward a zone. |
| Max zone height, ticks | 100000 | Zones taller than this are not shown. Minimum 1. |
| Min zone height, ticks | 0 | The lower bound on the same height. |
| Filter by Delta, % | 50 | Only zones whose delta percentage reaches this value (0–100). |
| Filter by Basis ratio, % | 0 | Only zones whose volume is at least this share of the volume traded over the basis volume interval (0–100). |
| Level2 level count | 10 | How many order book levels go into the imbalance calculation. |
Quantower asks for confirmation before it applies a change to Time interval, sec, Basis volume interval, sec, either zone height, Level2 level count, Filter by Delta, % or Filter by Basis ratio, %. Total volume and the two trade volume limits apply without asking.
The basis ratio, in one example
Say a zone of 1,000 contracts formed within the time interval, and 20,000 contracts traded over the last Basis volume interval, sec (300 seconds by default). The zone is 5% of that base. With Filter by Basis ratio, % at 5 or lower it is shown; at 6 it is not. The filter asks whether a zone was large for its surroundings, which a fixed Total volume cannot.
Display
| Setting | Default | Options |
|---|---|---|
| Display mode | Trades area | Trades area, Circle, Square, Triangle |
| Coloring mode | Default | Default, By delta, By filtered volume |
| Sidebar view mode | Full | Full, Table result, Market depth, None |
With Circle, Square or Triangle, a shape can print its value, with its own font and colour, and has a minimum and a maximum size (allowed 5–100 and 10–200; defaults 5 and 100). Trades area draws the zone itself instead.
The colour settings and Play alert sound belong to the coloring mode you pick, so switching the mode switches them too.
Licence
Quantower's licences page, checked on 15 September 2026, lists the Power Trades Scanner: on the free licence its data clears after three minutes, and the full version is part of the All-in-One licence. Features can also be bought one at a time, and there is a lifetime option. Some futures brokers sponsor the full licence for their clients — What Quantower gives you free has more on that.
Power Trades and OrderVane
Power Trades marks zones. OrderVane's big trade markers are a separate indicator that draws large prints as bubbles, with separate marks for back-to-back aggression and for absorption. The two can sit on the same chart, and neither needs the other.
