Quantower DOM Surface

DOM Surface is Quantower's order-book heatmap. This page covers what it needs before it can draw anything, how to open it, and what each of its settings changes.

Setting names are shown as they appear in the English Quantower settings, read from an installed Quantower 1.146.7 on 14 October 2026. What each one does follows Quantower's own DOM Surface help page and its product notes. A later build can rename or add settings.

What it shows

DOM Surface draws the order book over time as a heatmap: the brighter a price, the more size was resting there at that moment. Limit orders being placed, changed, cancelled or filled show up as the brightness at that price changes, which is much easier to follow than numbers changing in a DOM table. Trades are drawn on top as circles.

A bright row is size that was resting at that moment. Size can be pulled before price gets there, so the heatmap shows interest that is still open, not a level that is sure to hold.

What it needs

Opening it

Open it from the main menu, which appears when you click the Quantower logo on the main toolbar (Quantower's help files DOM Surface under analytics panels), then choose the symbol.

Settings

The book

Trades

The trade circles have their own settings: Trades marker size, Trades marker opacity and Maximal trade size — the size of the circles, how see-through they are, and the maximum trade size.

Beside the book

Histograms can run alongside the heatmap: Size (the order book as it is now), Cumulative size and Imbalance.

DOM Surface and OrderVane DOM

OrderVane DOM is a separate window that opens beside Quantower's DOM. It is built around a different question: not only what is resting now, but what changed at each price — which size got filled and which got pulled. It needs depth of market, the same as DOM Surface. What each one is for is on Quantower DOM Trader and OrderVane DOM, and OrderVane DOM itself is on its own page.

OrderVane adds order-flow markers on top of your Quantower charts.
